Creating connections through drumming. It is scientifically proven that drumming decrease stress, enhances immune function, decreases depression, creates community and is a lot of fun! Join us for a unique rhythm creating experience that transcends language and cultrual barriers. It is energizing, spontaneous, fun, creative and spritual. Facilitated by Jim Calvert and held at Ft. Bend Music Center on the 1st Saturday of each Month at 4:00pm. The next drum circle will be on November 7th, cost $5 per person. Bring hand drums, percussion, wind instruments, etc. Some instruments will be provided. Open to all, no rhythmical experience needed. Come and bring your friends.

Starting on Saturday October 3rd 2009 at 4:00. Drum circle group class led by Jim Calvert. BYOD (bring your own djembe, cajon, bongos, tamborine, or shakers) $5.00 to join and it will last for an hour. There will be instruction as well as free form jamming. Musicianship is taught through the use of a keyboard. Children will be involved in the following activities:
Singing, Ear training, Repertoire (keyboard pieces), Ensemble playing (group performance), Keyboard harmony, Arranging, Keyboard technique, Sight singing, Sight playing, Theory.
The Young Musicians Course is founded on the belief that every child loves music. During the two-year program, children participate in activities that teach basic musical skills and encourage independence, creativity and self-expression. The course appeals to the imagination of a youg mind and becomes an integral part of your child’s growth.

The in-class musical experience nurture your child’s creativity. They also create a feel and an understanding of music, which instill the basis of playing and expression. The lesson include:
Hearing. Listening to wonderful music helps children: Develop emitional sensitivity, ear for music, feel and express music in time rhythmically.
Singing. Children love to sing! In the process, they develop: Self expression, correct tempo, rhythm and pitch and understanding of not names.
Playing. Performing pieces on a keyboard introducues children to the joy of expressing music by themselves. Playing also helps students: Develop a sense of keyboard harmony, become familiar with music reading and learn the sounds of musical instruments.
Creating. Junior Music Course activities stimulate and foster children’s: Musical creativity and originality.
